Music Festivals

West Cork Chamber Music Festival (end of June/beginning of July) mostly held at the beautiful Bantry House (first historic house to be open to the public). First class young internationl musicians. Early to modern classical music. Performances throughout the day ending with a magical candlelight concert at 11.30 pm. (recorded on RTV radio)

Masters of Tradition (August) held at Bantry House. Traditional music from all over Ireland - some master classes. Excellent. (www.westcorkmusic.ie)

Young Masters of Tradition (mid-October) at Bantry House. An opportunity for extremely talented young traditional Irish musicians to display their talents. (www.westcorkmusic.ie)

Irish plays are performed from 15 July to 20 August (4/5 weeks) in a marquee in the grounds of the hotel, which also offers an excellent pre-theatre dinner. The hotel overlooks the lake and island on which St. Finbarre's Chapel is situated on the site of his 6th century hermitage. A beautiful, spiritual place. Booking for dinner & theatre essential.
